The Ecliptic is up: the sun's road through the year, its twelve signs drawn from Hyginus's Poeticon Astronomicon (Venice, 1482), the first printed pictures of the constellations. Touch a sign to light it; today's sign wears a gold ring. Libra's scales were cut from the Scorpion's claws, as the Romans did. The doors open onto their days once the archive can hold them. Woodcuts public domain, via the Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève and the Internet Archive.
